Ukuleles – An Instrument Anyone Can Play

One of history’s most popular instruments has been making a comeback over the last couple of years.  so much so that many manufacturers are having trouble keeping them in stock.  While there are a number of companies making low priced starter ukuleles, others like Mainland Ukes are selling solid wood ukuleles for just a few dollars more and are having great success even with the economy still waiting for a substantial recovery.

The ukulele is a relatively simple instrument to learn and to play and the internet has made it even easier.  Years ago, kids were generally taught by parents and grandparents.  You would go over to their house and while you were visiting with them, invariably grandpa would break out the ukulele and end up showing you a few chords.  Now, with sites like You tube and the Ukulele Underground, there are hundreds of videos and charts that show you step by step how to play your favorite songs.

No matter how you learn, the ukulele is an instrument that anyone can play.  Even without extensive musical knowledge, anyone can learn a few chords and play a song within 20 minutes of picking it up and its small size means you also don’t need the hand strength that a regular guitar requires.  So if you love music and you would love to play an instrument, the ukulele is the perfect place to start.
